This is looking so exciting now. They really are working very fast. The porch beams take a long time to put in but look so great when done.
Now mom is thinking about house color and roof color. She is considering cream because that is the color of my house and it isn't too colorful for her but is colorful enough for me. (Hey I would go with a pink or bright green house if I could get away with it. I will settle though for bright colored walls inside.) She is also considering what color shingles she wants. She hadn't given them much thought till I told her there were colors then I could see the wheels turning. Her mother put a green roof on their house because she wanted the look of green things. She missed the green trees she had in Berkley. The house was originally supposed to have a blue roof. I liked the green one myself.
I think it would be fun to have a colored roof; a creamy yellow house with white trim and porch railing and a red roof. Wouldn't that look like a storybook, grandmother's house? You would expect to be able to get a cookie from a real cookie jar and sit and have a wonderful chat. Add some hollyhocks, daisies, and climbing roses and the picture is complete.

I can see a porch swing and potted flowers everywhere!
That is really going to be beautiful... I love the porch!
I like the idea of green siding and a red roof personally.
I am loving watching this new home for your mother unfold.
OK Lucy it's been awhile since you posted any pictures. WE WANT PICTURES!
This is coming along just beautiful!
Even though the house is not yet finished in the photo, it's looking pretty fine. The red roof and green walls make a cute combination. I don't know why, but it reminds me of watermelons. It's sweet and lovely! =)
So what roof color have you guys chosen? Choosing the right kind of paint and colors can be hard to settle because there are lots of choices. Heeh, the watermelon thing looks sweet and lovely, and it kinda reminds me of Christmas time. Haha!
I like green roofs too! It’s very relaxing to look at, especially during summer. Anyway, whatever you guys choose, you should always consider the overall look of the house. That way, you wouldn’t regret your choice. Good luck!
Good point right there, Alison. The color choice will spice up your roofing project. As a suggestion, painting your roof white will save you more energy consumption. Why? It’s because white roofs can cool the interior, allowing you to ease up on ventilation appliances. Good luck to everyone, your hard work will definitely pay off! =)
You guys made a good choice to where you chose to build the house; it is perfect for a beautiful garden. I really love homes with wide natural surroundings. It seems like you could really get used to breathing in fresh air every morning. How about a couple of picnic chairs under the tree for an early morning chat? Wouldn’t that be great?
